Born in Crete, Nebraska and raised on third and fourth generation family farms in the rolling hills of Saline County.
Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with an emphasis on lithography and painting.
Master of Science degree in Library and Information Science from Columbia University, New York, N.Y.
Worked as a librarian, records manager and human resources analyst for various mining and engineering companies as well as state and federal government agencies. Kay was also a faculty member at the University of Wyoming and the Colorado School of Mines.
In 1990 began painting portraits on a commission basis, as well as still life paintings and landscapes in acrylic, oil and pastel. Kay has exhibited her award-winning work in galleries, publications, and in juried and invitational shows both locally and nationally.
Now paints in her Denver studio and at every opportunity travels throughout the American West.
